Our Crew

Captain Sasha Bouis began sailing in New York when he was six.  He learned from his father in the marshy wetlands on the south shore of Long Island.  Sasha honed his skills sailing for MIT on the Muddy Charles, in Boston Harbor, and at colleges across the northeastern United States.  He is an ASA Sailing Instructor as well as a USCG 100-ton Master Captain.  Sasha was instrumental in developing new talent as the college team grew in size and increased in national ranking. After college, Sasha returned to New York City and resumed sailing with his father. Sasha loves to teach sailing because he enjoys sharing the fun and skill of this ancient art.

The boats Sasha has sailed include the Laser, Tech Dinghy, Hobie 16, 420, 470, Flying Junior, Rhodes 19, J/22, J/24, J/105, and several larger cruising sailboats and catamarans including a Catalina 47 and a 51' custom built catamaran.  When not sailing, Sasha enjoys surfing, ice hockey, bicycling, and kite flying. He used to develop custom analytic software for a financial company on Wall Street but decided to spend the winter surfing and sailing in Puerto Rico instead.

Captain Bryan Carson comes to Katarina Sail Charters as a long time friend who is usually sailing the world over. We've got him to stick around, at least for the winter sailing season, and we are thrilled to have him as he comes loaded with ocean knowledge. Captain Bryan is a 100-ton U S Coast Guard registered Captain. He has captained for various sailing companies throughout the Pacific including Kauai and Costa Rica. With over 30,000 miles of offshore experience, he is happy to share his knowledge of the sea with you.

Drew King ("Doo Doo") has worked with Katarina for the past two years. His love for the boat and work involved are obvious to all who come aboard. Drew has a passion for the ocean, and for life in general. His infectious laugh will get you going, even if his pirate jokes don't! When he isn't on board the Katarina, he keeps himself busy entertaining guests and locals at the Rock Bottom Bar & Grill, surfing, and enjoying this beautiful corner of the island.

Tyler Findeisen comes to the crew with many years of boating experience. He grew up in and near the water, fishing, and building boats with his father. For the past few years he has lived aboard and maintained his own boat, a 31ft gaff rigged cat ketch. He has sailed it all along the coast of Florida and also worked on commercial boats out of Key West. His knowledge of the ocean and the winds is a great asset to us!

Katarina Sail Charters proprietor and U.S. Coast Guard certified Master Captain, William Bonbright has spent most of his life on the ocean. He served for five years as a USCG Captain aboard a local dive charter boat out of Rincón. He is quite familiar with the waters specific to this coastline, as well as the weather patterns. William is also a PADI Scuba Instructor.

Tiffany Barry, also proprietor and First Mate to William, is a PADI Dive master with has many years experience on the ocean. She has served as a local Dive Master and has taught water safety and surfing classes in Rincon and abroad.
